Founded in 2020, The Rotella-Fedder Excellence Academy is committed to fostering a culture of continuous growth, integrity, and dedication. Through personalized coaching, state-of-the-art facilities, and a supportive community, we inspire our golfers to strive for excellence on and off the course.
We believe in leveling the playing field and inclusion for all junior golfers by providing financial assistance for tuition, equipment, and tournament fees. Through this support, we aim to empower a diverse group of young talents to excel while laying a solid foundation for their future success.
Competition is at the core of much of what we do as we feel it serves several vital purposes within golf and beyond. Our weekly Saturday tournaments and competitive practices help our athletes improve and grow, measure progress, learn to handle pressure, and build camaraderie. Tournaments and competitions drive golfers to constantly refine their skills, strategy, and resilience. They also give golfers a tangible benchmark to help assess their performance and progress, gauging their abilities relative to their peers.
Golf is renowned for its roll in teaching integrity, sportsmanship, and self-discipline. Tournaments provide opportunities for players to develop these character traits through the challenges and adversities they come across on the golf course. Golf is as much a mental game as it is physical. Tournaments and competition create an environment that teaches golfers how to manage their emotions and focus when it matters. These skills are not only useful on the golf course but also in life. Lastly, tournaments foster a sense of camaraderie among golfers. They bring players together, create opportunities for social interaction, and the formation of lifelong friendships.
From his years of studying the field of motor learning, Dr. Rotella believes that making changes to the golf swing can be at times be easier when you remove the golf ball or even the golf club. Repetition is essential for ingraining golf swing changes which is why our weekly workouts are so important as our athletes perform golf-specific exercises in the gym reinforcing the movements needed to execute the desired changes in the golf swing. This helps accelerate the learning process and make the changes more ingrained and automatic on the course.
RF athletes complete a movement screen with Coach Bryan that was developed by the Titleist Performance Institute. This screen allows Coach Bill and Coach Bryan the ability to make connections between their body and swings to assist with our coaching and programming as well as give us some metrics that we can track. The screens also give our athletes more insight into physical limitations that they may be able to maximize with training as they are developing.
